We have so many happy memories visiting The Elms over many years. Geoff (and Brenda) made us welcome and shared lot’s of Hide stories, visiting The Mill, and Aunty Dorothy – and when Uncle James was around. The big Hide Millennium party. We were so pleased that Geoff & Brenda bought the Elms – keeping it in the family. Geoff enjoyed sharing the history of the Hides, Whitchurch and The Silk Mill. He took a keen interest in Robert’s Horticultural career and liked answering horticultural questions. There was always time for a cup of coffee, a chance to catch up with the news and a tour of the garden when we called in after volunteering at the Mill. Our love and prayers Celia & Robert

Geoff always kept in touch over the 14 years that Barry suffered from dementia , a true friend and a Christian gentleman who will be forever in our thoughts Janet & family

Sad to hear the news. I much appreciated the input that Geoff made when I began to be involved in the Silk Mill tour guide team back in the early 2000’s. What a nice man he was, a fount of knowledge and stories of his young days visiting the Mill and a helpful associate. He is fondly remembered. Mary Barrie Mary Barrie

I knew Geoff from 2002 when I joined the Mill. He was wonderfully calm, well mannered and knowledgeable - a gentle man in the truest sense. I will always remember him with great fondness.

Thank you for posting such a wonderful collection of photos, they bring back such fond memories of the 13 years I spent working with Geoff as a Plant Pathologist at Rothamsted, Harpenden. He was so inspiring, dedicated and committed to his research, qualities that truly influenced the person that I am today, but not just these, I will always remember him as an incredibly kind, generous, old fashioned gentleman.
